COVID-19 Response

Rapid-response public health training.

About the project

COVID-19 Response Project began in 2021 due to Public Health Emergency. The goal was to improve COVID-19 prevention and mitigate, reduce COVID-19 misinformation, and assist under-served populations in Bexar and surrounding counties. We collaborated with community partners, host vaccine fairs, and attended community events.

One of the challenges was reaching out and communicating effectively with refugee communities and creating print and digital educational materials in the Pashto language. It was alleviated through collaboration with translators and the use of AI technology.

Challenge

  • The COVID-19 Project, initiated in 2021 by the Health Collaborative, aimed to support refugee communities during the pandemic by creating a user-friendly website that delivered essential updates on COVID-19 and information about pop-up vaccination clinics, ensuring that vital resources were accessible to those in need.
